We had a great Christmas party/meeting last
Saturday, Dec. 7. Here are the party-animals who attended: Ferdie Agbayani, Janet Castro-Narag, Daisy Delgado-Vergara, Margie Molina-Tolentino, Jacqueline Palma-Soriano,
Helen Panaligan-Crist, Lito Pangan, Marissa Pascual-Latuno, Lina Santos (Tibo was working that day para may pang shopping
daw si Lina), & Clem Tagle. Other attendees were Gogo Concepcion-Gonzales,
Minie Garcia-Abad, & Vic Encarnacion. Jojo Salvador was our special attendee, all the way from Northern California. Not only does he get the honor of coming from the farthest, he got there the earliest. Say nyo, talo kaming locals. I heard
humabol si Reynald towards the end.
Again, the paparazzis were hard at work for those
photo ops. Many thanks to Margie and Emie for welcoming us to their home for
a holiday celebration and thanks to their kids for letting us invade their rooms. Thank
you to Margie, Jackie and Marissa for sharing their no-calorie desserts (kuno). Extra
hour yan sa treadmill pero it was worth it. We now know where Margie keeps those
non-calories. J-Lo will be proud.
Ferdie, lucky you didnt strike out with any of the ladies, or did you? Now
we know why Clem, Lito and Eden loved hanging-out in the kitchen (for the java jolt).
Everyone had a great time. Ferdie impressed us with his hidden talent,
getting the highest score on Margies karaoke system. I think no one else beat
his score of 99. According to Minie, our voice judge, hell have a solo number
at our reunion. Daisy, your harmony was great, di halatang kina-kapa. Jojo had the magic touch in the White Elephant game. Every
gift he touched, someone else wanted. Thanks for being a great sport. We hope you had a great time. To Gogo, Jovic and Reynald,
who both came later with family, we hope you also had a great time like we all did.
Last but not the least, thanks to Lina who provided chocolate giveaways for the kids that were present during the party
Despite all the fun, we still managed to have a short
meeting. Heres a synopsis:

·
Website
o USTHS 78 permanent website (USTHS78USA.tripod.com) we received feedback from a few fellow alumni re our website. Here are some comments we got: bilib naman ako sa dedication niyo; good job; thanks for plugging our event
on your website; Consensus is, were doing a good job. Kudos to Reynald and everyone
who helps and continue to help pull information together for the website. Again,
we welcome suggestions, ideas and feedback from everyone who visits the site.
o Group email address (USTHS78@hotmail.com) per Lina, our hotmail address has been the source of contact information for other fellow graduates. Not too many have posted questions, so were hoping that we are giving everyone ample information through
the website.
·
Budget/Finance
o We received our first deposit in
our PO Box from J. Helen Gapultos from TX. The following committee members have
turned in their deposits: Ferdie, Margie, Lina, Jackie, Helen, Lito, Clem. An email acknowledging receipt of any payments will be sent to those who have paid
their deposits and/or balance. Helen will send an email reminder re the deadline
to RSVP for the preliminary headcount and payment of deposits.
o Bank Account - Perla Tabora-Long
will provide the forms for Washington Mutual. Reynald, Margie and Helen will
meet separately to set-up the account as co-signatories. Helen will record all
checks received through the PO Box; all three will deposit the checks made out to them; and Margie will be in charge of disbursements.
·
Souvenir Program/ Montage
o Margie has received pics from Paul
Orogo (No. California) for the slide presentation containing a montage of before and after pictures. An email reminder will be sent out on it as well. Margie reports
that it will be a 15-minute montage shown as part of the program.
o Margie showed a sample of the Phil-made
picture frame, which will be the souvenir give-away to all attendees.
o Dont forget -- dust off those pictures
from yesteryears or take your Christmas family pics and send them to Margie by December
30, 2002. Pictures will be returned after the event. Or email your pictures to either Lito or Margie by December 30,
2002.
·
Entertainment -
o Suggestions for the entertainment
program include: a dance number by all committee members, to be choreographed by Jackie and Margie (aka Aldeguer sisters);
a song number by all former USTHS Glee Club members; a skit from our own Dolphy and Panchito duo (aka Tibo & Manny), Homecoming King and Queen; and Ladies Choice dance.
Again, we welcome other ideas and suggestions.
·
Roster/Directory
o Ferdie will contact Jovic for names
of former USTHS faculty currently in the US.
o Jojo will assist in contacting those
in No. California.
o There are now 52 names on our list
of 78 graduates (US and Canada only). The rest of the 195 names found are either
in the Phils. or in other countries. Please visit our website for the full directory
list.
o Classmates.com Boyet Norte responded
to an email we sent to him through Classmates.com. He is a UST Educ HS 78 graduate. He knows a few USTHS grads, so hell help us spread the word around.
o We continue to need assistance in
search of other fellow 78 graduates specially those in the East Coast and Northern California.
Please help us in this effort.

USTHS Reunion Planning Committee, USA
Addendum:
A group of us attended the USTHS Alumni of America Christmas Ball, last Saturday,
Dec. 14, 2002. It was well-attended by USTHS graduates from Batch 1949 to 1990. We distributed copies of the announcement form and information details of our April
event. We also talked with Ramon Nadres (71) and Evan Del Castillo (74), who
indicated that they will lend us their support for our event. They suggested
that we coordinate with each batch representative to get the participation of those on their lists. We will provide them with the list of follow-up assignments for the other batch, so theyll know who their
liaison is from our planning committee.
As of Dec. 16, there are 21 confirmed 78 attendees who have submitted their deposits. There are also a few who have RSVPd but no deposits have been received from them yet. Margie also heard from Evan (74) that there are already some from their batch interested
in attending our April event.
Margie and Jackie gave us an update after they verified with Monte Carlo for our
date. Margie gave Monte Carlo 50 as the tentative guarantee number of attendees. If we have at least 125 attendees, we will get 2 ballrooms for our event.
Finally, we will be dropping Blast From the Past (BFTP) as our Las Vegas area event
planning team, so we will need everyones assistance (including spouses) preparing for the event, esp. when we get closer to
our date. We will discuss other event-related assignments at our next meeting,
so dont miss it.
Till the next update
